Computer Science/Coding Professional

I've worked in the Computer Science industry for five years with C#/.NET being my main language of choice, although I also have proficiency in Java, Javascript, and other languages. I've received a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at Neumont College of Computer Science, a school specifically dedicated to teaching coding and computer science concepts. While attending school, I spent more than half my time as an Academic Coach, gaining skills for teaching that I'd carry with me into my professional life. During my work experience programming, I've managed multiple teams of employees and students, assisting them with the knowledge they needed to complete the tasks outlined for them. Each person always has a different level of base knowledge, with some knowing basically nothing about coding while others have a good handful of knowledge under their belt. Regardless of skill level, assisting people with their programming journey is something I not only have plenty of experience in, but is also something I am extremely passionate about. Many people have a variety of different reasons for why they might want to learn to code. It might just be a potential hobby, needed for a passion project, or even could be specifically for employment reasons. I enjoy learning about the reasons why people are interested in programming, as that lets me tailor their learning experience specifically to them.

Verified Computer Science Nerd

As a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Science from The Ohio State University, where I focused on Artificial Intelligence and maintained a 3.5 GPA, I am well-prepared to teach computer science topics to students. School provided me with an understanding of key computer science concepts and technologies. Artificial intelligence, computer architecture design, operating system design, database systems, neural networking, and computer vision to name a few. I gained hands-on experience implementing algorithms for AI, designing computer architectures, handling operating system tasks, working with relational databases, and developing solutions for computer vision applications. In addition to my academic background, I have honed my skills in programming languages such as C#, C, Python, Java, and C++, building large-scale projects and maintaining codebases over extended periods. My experience includes developing custom database systems, recreating video games in C# with agile methodologies, designing and implementing a custom programming language, and creating software solutions using Python UI packages. Furthermore, my work experience as a Business Analyst at Parexel has equipped me with valuable skills in software testing, quality control, content creation, and project management. I have a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and proficiency in utilizing project management tools like Kanban, which would enable me to effectively plan and deliver instructional materials to students. As a Head Manager at Padrones Pizza, I developed leadership and interpersonal skills, overseeing a team, managing customer interactions, and optimizing operational efficiency. These experiences have enhanced my ability to communicate effectively, manage time efficiently, and adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.

Undergraduate Student - B.S. Computer Science

Since the introduction Khan Academy course I took in sixth grade, Computer Science has never left my life and I'm happy for it. From middle school to highschool, I have been worked on my skills through learning languages, such as Python and Java, and through programming many types of robots. My highschool allowed us to take Advanced Placement courses from sophomore year on and since then I have received mostly 5s on my exams, two of which were Computer Science ones. In highschool, I was additionally the Lead Programmer for the Robotics Team for almost four years. It has been nothing but fun attending all the Robotics meets, programming hackathons, and Cybersecurity competitions. Currently, I am a Computer Science major and have joined numerous clubs centered around that including Gamespawn, which is a game development club, and the Cyber club, which focuses on Cybersecurity. Both clubs have brought me various experiences to add to my background ranging from Game Jams to Capture the Flags to even Junior Officer positions. I understand the intimidating factor of Computer Science, especially for many children, however that is exactly what I aim to eliminate. Utilizing my experience and skillsets, I wish to be able to offer guidance and inspire young minds to not only learn this valuable field of knowledge but also to raise their self-confidence and be able to challenge themselves. This is what I was able to achieve at the Summer Programs I tutored for last year and is what I aim to achieve here at Lessonpal.
